Pediatricians recommend that baby shoes move with baby's feet. They warn against shoes that have stiff, hard soles or rigid ankle support. Baby shoes should not restrict the foot from developing.
When trying soft leather baby footwear on your baby, make sure that there is enough room for the baby's foot to grow. You do not want to have inches of extra space where your baby will trip over their shoes, but be sure that the shoes are not too tight or restricting. Stick a finger between your baby's foot and the shoe to see how tight the shoe is.
