Washberry soap nuts are the dried fruit of the Sapindus Mukorossi  tree, growing naturally in Northern Himalayas.  The berries are harvested, de-seeded and dried.  The wrinkled rind are known as soap nuts or wash berries.  They have been used for centuries throughout Asia and India and are now becoming increasingly popular worldwide for washing.
